Linlee; a self portrait

She has drawn herself in full Cinderella regalia.  I’m surprised that she colored the gloves blue, as she is very proud of the white ones she wears.  It also amuses me that she sees her skin as brown, which she does.  She will put her arm next to mine and point out that hers is …

The Kangaroo Farm

Today was cold and rainy, but that didn’t stop this adventurous crew from heading to a nearby “kangaroo farm” which we’d passed many times in our travels and always wondered about.  I do wish it had been sunny and dry, but we still enjoyed ourselves very much.  The farm was an odd little place which …

Cute Mispronunciations

I wanted to document a few of the cute things Holly currently says before I forget… If you are hurt, you have a “boom boom.”  It feels “ouchie.” Holly loves “nuke” (milk) and “jutes” (juice). If you are in Holly’s way, she will say, “Scooping!”  Meaning, “Please, scoot over.” Tinkerbell is called Jingle Bell. For …

So nice when the girls play together!

It’s no secret that Holly is high maintenance.  If I am not actively playing with her, she goes looking for trouble.  That’s Holly.  There have been a few times lately where Linlee has actually allowed Holly into her room and the girls have played together.  Sort of.  Holly is playing with Linlee.  I think Linlee …

Still Two

Doesn’t that sort of say it all?  Still two.  I could go on about how she is obsessed with eating toothpaste (we have to keep every tube in the house locked up now), or the fact that she is seriously refusing to be potty trained all the way, or how she enjoys dumping out any bag, …

Happy Mother’s Day!

This year I got to enjoy Mother’s Day with my own mother which made the day even more wonderful. These goofballs were pretending to be dinosaurs on our walk home from the park.

Like a tiny dagger.

This afternoon I was backing out of the driveway to run an errand (while Rob watched the girls) when I noticed Linlee watching me from a window.  I smiled and waved.  She had no response.  I thought maybe the sun was glaring off the car window, so I stopped the car, rolled down the window …

French Kids Eat Everything

This is the title of a book I just read (French Kids Eat Everything).  It has really inspired me to make some changes (or begin the process of making changes) in the relationship my girls have with food.  I’ve decided to create a separate blog for posts on this topic.  There may be pictures of …

Cinderella Burnout

I’m not talking about Linlee.  Believe it or not, I’m not even talking about me.  I’m talking about Holly!  Linlee has been wearing her Cinderella costume every day since Halloween.  Each day after school, she runs up to her room and changes into it.  On weekends, whenever we are done with our outings, she runs …

The Trauma (or drama) of Being Two

I took Holly with me this morning to deliver coffee to Linlee’s teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week.  Holly was super excited to see Linlee at school.  She totally understood that we were going to give the coffees we bought to Linlee’s two teachers.  (And she totally cracked me up when we pulled up to Starbucks …
