You have no idea.

Rob and I watched this comedy routine a couple of years ago when we were in the thick of everything he describes.  It truly tickled our funny bone.  (If you don’t have kids or haven’t had to live with little ones in a long time, some of the humor may not be as funny to …

Two Expensive Grapes

This is Penny standing in my strawberry boxes after having herself a nice little strawberry snack.  Last night she also helped herself to the grapes in the colander over the kitchen sink.  Penny is a “counter surfer;” a behavior we are working hard to extinguish with no luck so far.  Somewhere in the back of …

Hot

My two sweethearts before the heat of the day.  We are enduring a heat wave in the Pacific Northwest and from the looks of it, it is only going to get worse and last forever.  It’s time for the people of Seattle (and surrounding areas) to admit that we need air conditioning.  Mild summers are …

acceptance vs. cure

This debate completely baffles me.  There are parents of autistic children who feel we should focus more on accepting autism rather than searching for a cure or preventative measures.  Personally, I don’t see why it has to be one or the other.  In my opinion, both are pretty important.  I have seen the Youtube video of …

Picking Strawberries 2015

Holly was the photographer here.  She had a tough time holding the camera up while pressing down on the shutter release, thus the reason I was bent over (trying to stay in the frame). Picture of Mémé by Holly. YUM! And here we were (same farm) two years ago: picking strawberries 2013.

What’s Next for Linlee

With the big (and unwelcome) changes to Linlee’s special education program, Rob and I debated on whether or not to hold Linlee back a grade level.  As Linlee’s peers charge full-speed ahead with their development, Linlee falls further and further behind.  She is making progress, but it’s itty bitty steps.  Developmentally, she is more like …

Pen Upgrade

I misjudged Penny’s size right from the start.  She lasted two and half months in her pen (a pen which I had expected to last until she no longer needed it).  Remember this? Well, now she can jump out of this pen and barely hunker down low enough to get through the tiny door. New pen: This …

Look who is five!

Birthday Tea Party!

This gorgeous little creature turns five tomorrow.  Today we celebrated with a birthday tea party. All the little girls but one tried a tea, including Linlee.  I was impressed. The little girls were served this tray plus an assortment of tea sandwiches (peanut butter & jam, cheese, egg salad). The grown ups were served this lovely tower …

“You do the honors.”

Poor Holly has very little impulse control.  She is always finding herself in trouble.  Tonight out at dinner, she took her finger and erased some of the restaurant’s daily specials from the board when Rob and I were not paying attention.  A waitress sweetly asked us to have her not do that.  We gave her …
